2020 PREPS VALUE ADDED AWARDS ANNOUNCED
For Immediate Press Release (January 20, 2020) - The Program of Research and Evaluation for Public Schools (PREPS) which is housed at William Carey University is honored to announce the winners of the 2020 Value-Added Awards. This year the Value-Added Awards are sponsored by IMPACT Education Group. An awards luncheon and ceremony will be held, Friday, March 6, 2020 at Hattiesburg’s Lake Terrace Convention Center in conjunction with the PREPS/MAPE Partnership Conference which celebrates achievements and collaborations in schools. To register for the conference or award luncheon visit the PREPS website at www.mspreps.org.
The PREPS Value-Added Analysis began in June 1997 and allows for valid comparisons of educational performance on the prior year’s state testing while considering the impact of differences in the socioeconomic background of the students considered in the research. The model is used in the PREPS value-added awards program and identifies these value-added performing schools among Mississippi public school districts who are members of PREPS. Schools deemed as adding value are those performing significantly better than other schools with comparable socioeconomic circumstances. PREPS follows the mission of actively providing research and evaluation for public schools. This year, school district ACT average test scores will be recognized along with 3rd– 8thgrade English Language Arts and Math tests, English II, U.S. History, Biology I, and Algebra I tests.
