Peasant Appointed to PREPS Board
The Program of Research and Evaluation for Public Schools (PREPS) has named Dr. Eddie Peasant as their newest board member.
Peasant, Superintendent Starkville-Oktibbeha Consolidated School District, has recently been appointed to the board of the state’s only statewide educational consortium. PREPS was organized over 40 years ago in 1976 as a non-profit organization dedicated to serving Mississippi Public Schools. PREPS is governed by a member board of directors made up of current Mississippi school district superintendents.
"I am honored to be chosen to serve on the PREPS Board of Directors to support Mississippi’s public schools,” said Peasant. “I look forward to connecting and collaborating with educators around the state through shared research and evaluation of best practices for improved student achievement.”
Peasant has served as assistant superintendent of Tupelo Public Schools, principal of Clinton High School and Gulfport Middle School. As high school principal, Peasant wrote “Improving Student Achievement: Can 9th Grade Academies Make a Difference?,” which was published in the International Journal of Education Policy & Leadership. He also was named Administrator of the year.
